Looking to buy a future champion? Then Fasig-Tipton’s The Saratoga Sale is the place to be. Many of the sport’s current stars, such as recent Whitney Stakes winner Sierra Leone, were sold at this prestigious yearling auction. This year’s edition, held on Aug. 4 and 5, saw Tropical Racing bring home a beautifully-bred filly, and she has the potential to be a standout on the track and the breeding shed.
The filly was bred by SF Bloodstock, a syndicate whose equine credits include horses such as classic winner Authentic. Part of what made her stand out is her impressive sire, War Front. A son of Claiborne’s breed-shaping sire Danzig, War Front boasts an ability to transmit speed and precocity on different surfaces and at different distances. The flagship stallion at Kentucky’s famed Claiborne Farm—where stallions such as Secretariat and Unbridled have held court in recent decades—War Front most recently sired Arlington Million winner Fort Washington. In total, horses sired by War Front have earned over $100 million to date.
Even more excitingly, War Front is a growing success as a broodmare sire, meaning the offspring of his daughters are doing very well on the track. And because lots of his daughters (don’t like the word lots) – CM are just retiring to the breeding shed, you can expect his profile as a damsire to continue to rise. In 2025 alone, his maternal grandsons and granddaughters have earned over $7.7 million.
Tropical Racing’s latest acquisition has plenty to recommend her on her dam’s side, too. The bay filly’s dam, Frolic’s Dream, was a stakes winner at two and three, eventually winning a grade 2 stake as a sophomore. So far, Frolic’s Dream has produced six foals to start, all of whom have won. Her best runners far are:
- $542,000-earner Madaket Road—a $650,000 purchase at the 2023 Saratoga Sale who ran second in the June 7 Woody Stephens Stakes (G1) at Saratoga—and stakes winner Bode’s Dream.
- Frolic’s Dream is a half-sister to two stakes winners: Mokat, who captured the grade 2 San Clemente Handicap, and Frolicing.
- This extended family is full of quality, continually producing top-flight runners throughout the generations.
- Its best members have included Canadian champion Hunters Bay, grade 2 winners Smok’n Frolic and Super Frolic, grade 3 winners Lindsay Frolic and Fabulous Frolic, $1.9 million-earner Wild Frolic, and Puerto Rican champion Analyze Your Life.

A smart purchase, this filly is sure to give Tropical Racing plenty of bang for its buck. She may also offer a return on the investment in the sales ring, too; a good-looking filly from this type of family would be a promising broodmare prospect after her racing career has concluded. With talent running through her veins on her sire’s and dam’s side, this latest addition to Tropical Racing’s stable is sure to be an exciting one.
